Today, Wednesday Sept. 18th 2024, I woke up as usual in the middle of the night. On my sailboat. What was less usual is that the clock showed up exactly 00:01, and that my first thought was that I had to write to you.
Of course you don't know me... I'm a French woman in her seventies, solo sailing around the world on the boat my father built, and I inherited ten years ago when I was retiring after a carreer discovering the world. I belong to the lucky ones in the "Global North". French. Pensioned. Divorced. Mother and grandmother of three sons and two grandsons scattered around the world.
I lived a meaningfully various life. Brushed up my English thanks to an aupair stay in the Washington D.C. area after high school graduation, including a semester at Montgomery College
, MD, where I discovered the world history with an American perspective.
Returned to Europe after I realized the American way of life was not for me.
Undergraduated in Business Administration. Decided I'd better learn about it all while making a living ASAP.
My first full time job was as Secretary to BBY, founder, owner and publisher of Jeune Afrique, a French language still leading news magazine aimed at political and business executives in the "Global South". I loved this opportunity, even if I had there my first experience of facing a world built by humans intent on controlling what they thought was their due, and women had to decide for profit through submissiveness.
To make a long story short, I steered an autonomous life in the whole world, including the digital industry. I concluded it with a Political Science PhD. My thesis elaborates about survival when you live in an area where empires have been competing for as long as mankind exists. Namely, Afghanistan. It's been published - in French:
Afghanistan, anthropologie de l'égalité sur une zone de fracture du système-monde, by Gaït Gauhar Archambeaud, L'Harmattan, 2015.
Mrs. Candidate, I believe you are in a position where you could decide for mankind's future. I hope I'll be able to see you entering the White House as a winner of the upcoming U.S. elections.
